This isn’t about All-Thing-Being-Equal, like kids from similar backgrounds, but one kid has more lunch money, or is bigger, or just an a$$hole. Or jealous girls who put gum in your hair or beat you up at school. Nah, this is such an obvious situation, it has nothing to do with the examples given in the SF gate article , where they stat talking about the Megan Meier case, stuff that has nothing to do with what happened to this boy and how it came about. The Meier case had no racial element, was just crazy people, involved an adult , and was through the internet, not on school property.

Ok here’s a simple story problem:

If all of group B hates group W all the time, and w is part of subset big ‘W’ , then if a member of group B beats the crap out of w, did b just have an off day to the point he needed to attack that particular member of W, or does logic dictate that if subset b member of group B follows the established Rule that Group B ALWAYS HATES group W, hating him because of said membership in W , that it was more because of that and not in fact, incidental ? Yeah, I think so.

Before we get into what happened to the little 7 year old boy Zachary , who unfortunately goes to school in a level of Dante’s Inferno they call ‘Oakland’ , let us peruse this:

Check out 2nd video above video player and listen to the school admins , it will make you scream- On the you tube video I link to, they don’t include the unsympathetic and Blame Zachary types , you have to go to the above link to hear and see the audacity -to say this poor kid , who suffered a skull fracture (not mentioned in this article) ‘was not a hapless victim’. Shades of ‘Cry me a river’? The school certainly did NOT apologize and they certainly are protecting their own, and the White teachers seem awfully afraid, one staff member actually saying “I don’t want to say anything while this is under investigation, I don’t want to comment about other people’s children”. This kid attends school in Oakland. I hope his dad takes him out of there ASAP, before something worse happens. The poor kid could have died if he were not found lying there. This is one of the few occasions talking to an attorney might benefit one greatly, and as it turns out, it appears Zachary’s father already has.

An Oakland parent is threatening legal action after his 7-year-old child was repeatedly beaten and abused while, he claims, school officials did nothing to stop it. According to the Chronicle, fifth-grade kids subjected first-grader Zachary Cataldo to a terrible series of playground abuse; the kids knocked out four of his teeth, kicked him in the stomach, and ultimately threw him against a tree and left him with a brutal concussion and a fractured skull. As the incidents continued, Zachary’s father Anthony claims, he repeatedly asked officials at Piedmont Avenue Elementary to do something about it, but they just shined him on. Well, they’re listening now that he’s got himself a lawyer.

School district spokesman Troy Flint said the investigation into Monday’s incident is continuing but the preliminary indication is that Zachary “was not a hapless victim.”

Yeah , RIGHT. You defend your own, Flint. And it is clear the others who work there and want to hold onto their jobs are scared to say what they REALLY think . Look at the bus stop picture below and tell me again how it is the SEVEN YEAR OLD’S fault he was beat so badly he got a skull fracture and lost 4 teeth, and had to be in the hospital for 2 days. Of course they shrilly shriek “Race has nothing to do with it!” “It’s a bullying issue, you hear me, bullying I say! “. They think we will see the trees, and not the forest. WHY was this kid singled out? Sure looks like he might be in the minority where he goes to school, and tell me race has nothing to do with it?

Come ON. You know you are full of it. He is probably perceived as weaker, they can smell it on him, that he is Tame and Easy Pickens. Seriously, is it ME who is being ‘Mean’ and ‘Hateful’ writing about this, or is it the savages who beat this little kid to the point he got a skull fracture? Get out of your ‘accept me , I-am-a-Good and-Noble-White-Person-I-can-Fix-Anything-With_My -Invincible-Social-Educational-MagicEquality-Shield-and-So-Afraid-Someone-Will-Call-Me-A-Name-I will-Deny-Reality-Over-and-Over-and-Over-and-Over’-… ad infinitum mentality , and wake up and smell the Lysol in the intensive care ward where your kid is recovering from getting his head bashed in.

So before you go into your panicked version of political CPR – attack, accuse, smugly congratulate yourself on your self-sacrifice…as-long-as-it-ain’t-my-kid-safely-ensconced-at-a-private-alternative-school-with-only-a-smattering -of-diversity-HYPOCRITES! Why don’t you think about where the REAL hate is in the “‘No Hate in Our Town’. My illustrating where the real hate is coming from- we’re sitting here, I’m typing this, you’re reading this, no one is in the hospital or dead, or raped, or shot. It’s words. Let’s get it straight about this hate stuff. Which seems more hateful, words illustrating Reality or bashing a 7-year-olds head so hard his skull fractures? What is it going to take before We Accept The Reality about the Real Hate?

We’ve tried a hell of a lot to Fix Things, and it has been made clear to us through stories like this that it is Not Effective. We have to come to terms with the fact that we are not Equality Superheroes, able to leap tall ‘inequities’ in a single bound, dispense coloring books and letter magnets, free healthy snacks, as well as rent, health care, clothing, you -name-it, and think that will do it. Nothing is enough because the problem is non-fixable. We’re like the co-dependent parents on that show ‘Intervention’, broken-hearted and afraid, yet still giving the child money, room and board while they do drugs and sell themselves anyway, because we don’t know what else to do.

“But they aren’t ALL..like..THAT!” , the cry rises from the throng. True, a few aren’t.

Just like a few Whites are violent serial killers, but with the math reversed.

His after-school care provider went to pick him up at Piedmont Avenue Elementary in North Oakland on Monday afternoon when she found him lying on the ground, too dizzy to stand up, according to his aunt, Janine Cataldo. Officials responsible for the daily operation of Piedmont Avenue Elementary School have failed to deliver a safe learning environment for the young students that attend classes there. Young Zachary Cataldo first suffered the loss of four teeth in one incident on the playground whereupon he was picked up and twirled around and thrown on the playground by an older student. In another incident he was punched in the stomach. Just recently, in a third incident, he has sustained a skull fracture from an attack on him while he was waiting for his ride after school.

Allegedly, Piedmont Avenue Elementary is known for violence and there appears to be no resolution to this inexcusable problem. The San Francisco Chronicle refers to this school as a danger zone, among others.

The disparity in the English language arts scores of white third-graders and their non-white peers has actually grown during the last five years, despite the district’s efforts to narrow the gap.

If you look at the percentages of those who scored at “proficient” or “advanced” levels in reading — one of the measures used to determine progress in the No Child Left Behind Act — the data is stark: White and black third-graders are 56 percentage points apart (79 percent/23 percent). For white and Latino students, the difference is 63 percentage points (79 percent/16 percent).

OAKLAND — Five years after the state assumed control of the nearly bankrupt Oakland school system, the district’s finances remain on shaky ground, an investigation by the Alameda County Civil Grand Jury has concluded.

The brief report, one of 11 issued this year by the county’s 158-year-old watchdog body, expressed concern about the Oakland Unified School District’s future. The authors concluded that the district’s fiscal department has made improvements, but its efforts have been “hampered by continuous staff turnover, particularly in the area of finance.”
